When it's time to lose the fat, don't waste your time with useless exercises. There are a million different exercise routines out there to choose from, so what will be the best fat burning work out for you to reach your goals?
You've probably been told that you should increase your cardio, and that's probably true. But not all cardio is created equal; you can waste your time or you can get serious "bang for your buck". If you're ready to burn off that fat, you're going to need to stoke that fire with some intensity.
Low intensity cardio work outs might be great for endurance training, but they are not an effective method of getting rid of the fat. It's time to do some hard work. As an example, imagine the body of a long distance runner next to a sprinter. A sprinter works exceedingly hard for maybe 60 seconds at the most, while the marathoner keeps going and going and going.Do you notice a difference in their bodies?
You can apply the sprinter's approach to your work outs by incorporating some High Intensity Interval Training, also know as HIIT.
While there are whole books devoted to HIIT, the idea, in a nutshell is to add a series of sprints to your regular cardio work out. Do you use the elliptical trainer? Kick it into high gear for a little bit. Don't forget to get warmed up thoroughly, then set your regular pace for minute followed by 20-40 seconds of all out sprinting.Spend the rest of your work out alternating between jogging and sprinting in 30-60 second intervals.
You can apply these techniques to whatever exercise you choose, from jogging to circuit training. If you walk, you don't necessarily need to "sprint" - simply increase the effort to a higher level than you're normally accustomed to. Swing those arms!Choosing exercises that are weight bearing are your best bet.Choosing walking, jogging or dancing will give you better results than swimming or cycling.
Your work outs will be more intense, but they only need to be about 20 minutes long, 3 to 4 times per week to see significant changes in your fat loss.Another added benefit is that these higher intensity workouts lead to your body continuing to burn fat, even long after you're done with the work out.
